Local History Books

The library just received a wonderful book written by Rachel Foss Higgins Burden.

Amazing Mazie is the story of Mariam Olive Greenlaw McGlauflin written by her granddaughter, Rachel Burden.

The book is filled with Mazie's poems, and old photographs, letters, documents, and newspaper clippings. Mariam Olive Greenlaw McGlaufin lived from 1846-1945 and was born in Charlotte, Maine. During her lifetime she lived in Mapleton, Spragueville, Presque Isle and Chapman.

This is an amazing book that documents an amazing life. It is a loving tribute and will be enjoyed by everyone who has a sense of the importance of documenting history.

Ann Cushman from this library is cited in the acknowledgements for her assistance with census research.
